NFL Fans Are Running Wild With The #FireChipKelly Hashtag

The sky is falling in the City of Brotherly Love, and Chip Kelly is to blame. That’s what Eagles fans are saying four weeks into the season after an abysmal 1-3 start. In a few short months, Philly went from playoff contender to NFL bottom feeder, trailing the Washington Redskins of all teams in the divisional race.

A lot of it has to do with personnel, something Chip Kelly was deeply involved in during the offseason with the removal of Nick Foles and LeSean McCoy. The other part is scheme and football 101. The defense is simply spending too much time on the field, not getting sufficient rest as the offense goes into hyperdrive mode on every possession.

Fans are taking their frustrations out on social media with the #FireChipKelly hashtag. Most tweets sound like the insane ramblings of a mad man, fans who are fed up with Kelly’s know-it-all demeanor in press conferences. Others have turned Kelly into a meme with mash-ups from popular shows like The Simpsons and ESPN’s 30 for 30. And then there are those who probably went too far after Kelly talked about “executing” his offense in a post-game quote early in the season.
