REI is in the midst of a sneaky sale on some of the most coveted outdoor gear on the market—Arc’teryx outerwear. In the past few days, we’ve seen discounts on the Beta SL waterproof jacket (nearly $100 off) and the Cerium Down Jacket ($75 off). But REI isn’t stopping there: Another one of the brand’s fantastic packable jackets is on sale in multiple colorways.
The Arc’teryx Norvan Insulated Hoody is on sale for $240, a 20% discount from its normal price of $300. This insulated hooded jacket is designed for low weight and packability, and it’s available in two colorways—black and red—in sizes XS up to 2XL. You’ll need to hurry, though, because we suspect this one will sell out fast. If your size is gone, we’d recommend the Kyanite Pullover Hoodie instead, which is now less than $150.

This Arc’teryx jacket features a trim, streamlined silhouette, so it won’t feel bulky when on the trail and it won’t look out of place when worn casually, either. It’s made from a nylon stretch woven mesh for an optimal balance between breathability and durability, and it’s treated with a DWR finish to repel water and keep you dry. Inside, it’s stuffed with synthetic Coreloft insulation for reliable warmth no matter the conditions—it retains heat even when damp. The underarm gussets and back panel are left uninsulated, however, which helps you dump excess heat when you’re working hard. Unlike typical hooded jackets, this one features a collapsible insulated hood that stows within the collar, so you can preserve a streamlined look. It also includes some helpful extra features, like built-in flip-mitts for keeping your hands warm and a zippered side pocket that doubles as a stuff sack for storing the jacket.
As you’d expect for an Arc’teryx jacket, shoppers have been thoroughly impressed with the Norvan’s performance. One called it the “best running jacket on the market,” adding, “This jacket is perfect at regulating body temperature and keeping you comfortable.”

Another shopper agreed: “It has a fantastic fit and is perfect for running,” they said. Others noted that the Norvan “dries quickly and withstands dew and light right” while others simply called it “impressive.”
The Arc’teryx Norvan Insulated Hoody will be a versatile addition to any gear closet, and you’ll appreciate its warmth and breathability on your next wintertime hike, run, or camping trip. We don’t have to tell you that Arc’teryx gear rarely sees discounts, so act fast: Getting this jacket for 20% off is a real score, and it won’t stay in stock long at this price.
