Audi Has Invented “Blue Crude,” An Alternative Fuel Made of Water, Air and Renewable Energy

Audi introduces “Blue Crude,” an alternative fuel made of water and carbon dioxide. Produced as a clean, sustainable, and environmentally friendly alternative to gas, the new “blue crude” fuel begins by taking electricity from renewable energy sources, such as wind, solar, and hydropower, and using it to produce hydrogen from water via reversible electrolysis. The hydrogen is then mixed with carbon dioxide to produce the liquid “blue crude” diesel fuel, which contains no sulphur pollutants and utilizes energy more efficiently through sustainable sources. Audi anticipates the market price of its synthetic diesel to be slightly above current diesel prices in Europe as the German carmaker prepares to commercialize the technology in the near future. Stay tuned on further news regarding “blue crude.”
